EPIC Thought of The Day – Introduction to Presentation Personality
Introduction to Presentation Personality
In every presentation, there is a ‘Sender’ and ‘Receiver’ and each has a ‘Presentation Personality’ – or a preferred style of communicating…. a preferred way of transmitting and receiving information.
For example, If you have a sender who might love to tell stories, They might be a great elaborator. They can take an idea and magnify it, strand it along and create a theme around it.
But, you have an audience who are more factual based, they are not story telling wired as a receiver. They need to have every ‘I’ dotted and every ‘T’ crossed. Their style is ‘numbers based’.. or more bottom-line focused.
On the other hand, you could have a very detailed presenter whose presentation personality is to provide all the detail, everything they know, or think they want to know and the audience is ‘storytelling’ shaped.
They are not into the detail as much as they are the story of the detail. They are more relational, less factual, which means they need the relationship… before they can take in the numbers.
This is what we call a Presentation Personality and the ability to be able to read, understand, be aware of, the preferred personality of audience is one of the essential steps in you becoming an EPIC Presenter.
